Outpatient Substance Abuse Counseling and Treatment

12-step fellowships are proven to be a highly effective means of self-help. Yet in the earliest stages of recovery, some are unwilling or unable to get help from a 12-step program and they seek formal treatment. However, many treatment programs are only temporarily effective at helping people. What happens when an individual leaves the controlled structure of a treatment program? Still in need of help and support, they may then turn to a 12-step fellowship. But often what they see and hear from the 12-step fellowship is completely different from what they learned, practiced, and relied upon in the treatment program. In fact, it may be completely contradictory. The result is a far greater chance of relapse.

Our approach is a blend of evidenced based counseling techniques combined with training to help you learn how to effectively use 12 step programs to achieve a sustainable, lifelong, recovery. A substance abuse counselor should be a professional temporary sponsor, like a mentor or coach. We teach what the 12 steps are, what the principles of the program are and how to use them in day-to-day life, what a sponsor is and how to find one, what are the benefits of one addict or alcoholic sharing with another, how does a support group help one help him/her self. Basic recovery, pure and simple.

At Nonviolent Alternatives' Brown County office we offer a full continuum of outpatient substance abuse services including assessment, education, outpatient treatment, and intensive outpatient treatment. No health insurance is required to obtain our services. In fact, our total fees are actually lower than many health insurance deductibles and co-pays. Court ordered or self-referred, we treat everyone equally with courtesy, compassion, and respect.

The first step to enter counseling with us is to attend an Intake session on Thursday at 7:30 pm. No appointment is necessary. The fee for the Intake session is $25 and must be paid in cash at the time of service.

Call 1-888-678-9609 ext 0 to check for emergency cancellations or schedule changes.

During the Intake session, many important things are explained including confidentiality, Client Rights and Program Conditions. Numerous documents are prepared and signed. It is imperative for everyone seeking treatment for substance abuse to have an assessment to design an individual plan for treatment. So during the Intake session we will schedule an individual appointment for your assessment. The fee for an assessment is $100 and must be paid in cash at the time of service.

During the assessment appointment, we will first of all determine if our services are your best option. If our services are not the best option for you, we will provide you with written assessment recomendations and refer you to a more appropriate provider of services to meet your needs. If our services are a good match for your individual needs, we will work together to design an individual plan for your treatment. Your individual treatment plan will determine how many treatment sessions you will be attending and how often.

You will then be ready to begin attending treatment sessions. Clients typically attend treatment sessions one to three times per week. It is our policy that everyone we serve must agree to supplement treatment by also attending free 12 step self help program meetings such as AA or NA.

The fee we charge depends a great deal upon your treatment plan requirements, and individual circumstances. Our highest maximum fee is usually $80 per week. Most clients pay significantly less. We do offer substantial discounts to clients who keep their account paid up and maintain a zero balance. If you are unwilling or unable to cover the cost of services, we may not be a good match for you and we may not be able to serve you. Since we receive no other funding to cover our cost of providing services, public or private, we must strictly adhere to this policy.
